UCSD Wushu practices contemporary Chinese wushu, an exhibition martial art that emphasizes speed, flexibility, and power. We focus on learning long fist, a primarily long range combative style with fully extended strikes, a balance of hand and foot techniques, and the inclusion of many acrobatic techniques, which we then apply to weapons such as sword and staff.

Oriented toward beginners and those looking to refine their technique and drill their basics, fall quarter is focused on teaching the mechanics of each basic as well as the elementary fist form.
